Careers That Are Most Effected By Asbestos

Years ago, asbestos was thought to be highly beneficial and was used in a variety of ways. Since then, scientific research has shown that asbestos is harmful and can cause malignant mesothelioma, a deadly form of cancer.

Unfortunately, there are dozens of careers that come in contact with asbestos. Of course some careers are more affected by asbestos than others. In the automobile industry, asbestos was used in manufacturing cars. Production workers and mechanics used asbestos to repair brakes, brake linings, and clutch pads.

Engineers and construction workers are considerably affected by asbestos. It was used in a variety of ways in the construction of buildings. Nearly every profession dealing with construction is affected. They include insulators, steel workers, plumbers, drywallers, cement workers, carpenters, roofers, welders, tile installers and many more. They all used asbestos in the products they used for their occupation.

Electrical workers were also affected. They used asbestos for insulation around the electrical products they worked with. Custodians are also affected by asbestos. The cleaning products they used often contained asbestos. Custodians as well as other manufacturing professions came in contact with asbestos on a daily basis. Railroad workers, rubber manufacturers, and even the flight industry were all affected by asbestos.

There are so many professions affected, but it seems that construction was most affected by asbestos.
