Symptoms That Might Indicate You Have Mesothelioma

The typical symptoms that occur if a patient has mesothelioma are common among many other illnesses. These symptoms include respiratory problems like shortness of breath and chest pains. A lot of patients might experience weight loss, malaise, and even lose their energy. Depending on the type of mesothelioma, a patient may experience adominal discomfort, swelling, and possibly even lumps in the abdomen area. For other patients, they may experience, pain under their rib cage and coughing. 

As you can see, a lot of these symptoms tend to be normal symptoms of other illnesses. And, since most doctors are not familiar with mesothelioma, chances are they might diagnose you with a cold and you might continue to feel sick for a while if you do indeed have the cancer. 

If you know that you have been exposed to asbestos, you might want to see a doctor who specializes in treatment of mesothelioma cancer. Obviously exposure does not indicate that you will have the disease. However, you chances are much more likely. Therefore, the need to be cautious is there. 

Also, there is no harm in seeing more than one doctor. It is common in today’s time to get a second opinion. If you feel like you are not getting back, have another doctor check your symptoms to ensure that you do not have mesothelioma cancer. You can never be too careful.
